So judging from the Twitter comments (G-d bless Twitter!), Pono and Kayla did an amazing Mia Michaels' routine last night. Can't wait to get home and before packing and leaving for 4 days, will watch the episode. Need to recruit someone to text me the results tomorrow...
Last week was intense, though. That's why I didn't blog about it. Pono and Kayla did a contemporary piece by Sonia Tayeh. It was just sick. Ridiculous. Absolutely brilliant. Executed at the tops. I didn't get it at first but was very intrigued by the movement, musicality and the performance. Pono nailed it from the toes to the face expression. I had to rewatch it. And the second and the third time I was more at ease with the piece, hence enjoyed it greatly. Give it a shot below.
Just the dancing:
With intros and judges' comments:
At the end of the day I could breathe this couple into the Top 12. However, America was nuts and put them in the bottom 3. What does that say about you, America? That you suck! Honestly, when the country's best contemporary choreographer (i.e. Mia Michaels) says that it was the best thing on earth, how the bloody f#&% could you NOT vote for it?
Then it was the solo time. Kayla did OK, though I personally don't really care for her. From her reaction to the voting results, she came off as a diva to me.
Pono did a solo to an amazing version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow by a Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. He had his whole Hawaiian act, including the shell necklace that I wore just a week before! I was psyched to see that, honestly. Even paused the video and stared at the screen. Anyway. This time around I have to say it hurt to watch him dance. Pono, don't you f#%&ing ever do that to me. My eyes! Judge for yourself. And though I usually say "no judging", judge away!
I couldn't find it seperately, so you can watch them all three guys.
Personally, I think EVEN I could do a better job than Pono.
He made it by the skin of the teeth. Like I said, can't wait to get home and watch what magic Mia did on him this week. If he's in the bottom three later tonight, first, I'll die, second, he'll be sent home.
If anyone wants to volunteer texting me the results, please do.
